Green Top Farms was founded in 2014 by a fifth-generation farmer-turned-NYC public school teacher looking to connect local farms with urban communities. Though this initial vision took the shape of growing microgreens in a bedroom closet, we have evolved to serve healthy, prepared meals using local ingredients in New York City schools, offices, community centers, and anywhere else people are hungry. Our company is operated by a small group of folks building a new kind of food system, one that supports local supply chains, sustainable practices, and better wages for food workers.
NOW PROUDLY SERVING NYC SCHOOLS
WE BELIEVE FOOD SHOULD BE GOOD FOR YOU AND FOR THE PLANET.
WHO WE ARE
- Our kitchen is led by Chopped Champion Anup Joshi (Tertulia, Zagat's 30 under 30). Supported by small family farms across the state, our menu centers seasonal produce and nutrition as much as it does taste. In every step of Green Top’s supply chain – from sourcing to cooking to distribution – we prioritize the health and well being of our planet and community.
- Whether we are catering corporate events, preparing school lunches, or packaging food pantry boxes, we believe an equitable food system provides local, nutritious food to everyone. During the pandemic, we provided over 3.5 million pounds of fresh produce and 600,000 prepared meals to New Yorkers in need through community partners like the River Fund, Urban Upbound, Wide Rainbow, and more. Still today, every month we donate hundreds of pounds of food to reduce food waste and combat hunger.
